La etapa Preliminar del Torneo LIPEAD-40 Tributo a Gustavo Paz y Barriga ha empezado oficialmente hoy 15 de Mayo del 2012.
Se crearon 58 grupos de 7 jugadores cada uno. El elo promedio de los grupos está entre 2030 y 2120. 19 jugadores titulados están participando.

I think LIPEAD and Gino deserve great thanks for this tournament… it’s a worthy successor to III Copa Perú, which I played in many years ago and from which I learnt for the first time that I could play at SIM level on a good day… just a month ago I earned the SIM title! To all the players I wish great chess… and I hope (if I don’t mess up on the way) I’ll see the best of you in the Final.

Thanks Alan, I believe the credit goes to the people that built the foundation for LIPEAD like Gustavo Paz y Barriga, as well as to those who have carried the institution over the years. I don’t want to forget anyone, but Calvin Rouse, Guillermo Rivas Mongrut, Dario Biella-Bianchi, Angel Acevedo, Alfredo Cilloniz, Jose Carrion Lava, Javier Landers, Armel Fernandez and many others. I am just another guy in the team.
Congratulations on the SIM title!. Hopefully we’ll get to play in the semis or even the final if I am lucky 🙂
